ElectMe sends the address you type, or the coordinates from Use my location, to its own server so it can ask the Census Geocoder and, when configured, the Civic Information API. Addresses are not written to a database and are not logged.
A lookup response may stay in server memory for up to 24 hours so the same lookup is not sent upstream again. Responses with no published ballot are kept for a shorter time. Nothing in that cache is written to disk.
Saved places and recent lookups stay in this browser's local storage. Reset demo data clears them.
When Firebase is configured, ElectMe signs you in anonymously. That creates an ID with no name or email, used only to limit how many lookups one session can make. The session token stays on this device.
